Woodbridge Township is located in Middlesex County, New Jersey. Many distinct communities exist within Woodbridge Township, and several of these communities have their own ZIP codes. The communities are spread over 24.2 square miles and include Avenel, Colonia, Fords, Hopelawn, Iselin, Keasbey, Menlo Park Terrace, Port Reading, Sewaren, and Woodbridge Proper. Over 99,000 residents occupy these communities. Woodbridge is located in northern Middlesex County, New Jersey and is the sixth most populated municipality in the state. Also within town limits there is the Woodbridge Center Mall, the second biggest mall in the State of New Jersey and a popular shopping center for visitors and local residents.
The Woodbridge Township School District serves students in kindergarten through twelfth grade. The district's 16 elementary schools serve 5,953 students from kindergarten through fifth grade.There are five middle schools in Woodbridge educating more than 3,300 students. In the three high schools, more than 4,000 students are educated with a choice in 150 courses that are offered. For the 2004-2005 school years, Matthew Jago Elementary School was named a "Star School" by the New Jersey Department of Education, the highest honor that a New Jersey school can achieve.
Route 1 and 9 serve as the towns major roadways along with the Garden State Parkway. Other roadways passing through the township are Route 27, Route 35, Route 184 and Route 440.
