South Amboy is a city along the eastern most border of Middlesex County, New Jersey. This city occupies just 2.7 square miles of land and water and has a population of nearly 8,000. South Amboy, and Perth Amboy across the Raritan River, are collectively referred to as The Amboy's.
The South Amboy Public Schools serve students in Pre-K through twelfth grade. South Amboy Elementary School educates 580 students Pre-K through sixth grade and South Amboy Middle High School serves 445 students in grades seventh through twelve. The city also has a Catholic elementary school, Sacred Heart School.
New Jersey Transit North Jersey Coast Line provides service into Midtown Manhattan for all the city commuters. New Jersey Transit buses also provide service from this city. South Amboy is also located very close to the Garden State Parkway and Route 9 making it very easy and convenient to commute in and out of the city.
