Milford, New Jersey, is located on the Delaware River in the northwestern portion of Hunterdon County. The Borough dates to the mid-18th century when a grist mill was established here. In 1796 the mill was destroyed by a fire and the town became commonly known as Burnt Mills. The name Milford was incorporated in 1911 but the official incorporation was not registered until 1925.
Milford has maintained a special charm in its present day, with many local businesses being family owned and operated. The whole community invites visitors and neighbors to share their pride in "Milford on the Delaware", its heritage and its culture.
Milford Public School, home of the Mustangs, educates students grades Pre-K through eighth grade and had an enrollment of 122 tudents in the 2005-06 school year. Delaware Valley Regional High School serves students ninth through twelth grades and it has and enrollment of over 1,000 students from Alexandria, Hollandand Kingwood Townships as well as the borough of Frenchtown.
