Metuchen is a borough in Middlesex County, New Jersey, that is completely surrounded by Edison, which was formally named Raritan Township. More than 13,000 residents are spread over 2.7 square mile spread of land. As Metuchen grew, many artists, literary figures and noted intellectuals during that time were attracted to the area thus acquiring the nickname "The Brainy Boro". One of the Borough's two post offices is named Brainy Boro Station.
The Metuchen School District serves students in kindergarten through twelfth grade. The kindergarten students attend, Moss School which educates 145 children. Campbell Elementary School educates more than 600 students in grades one through four and Edgar Middle School serves the 600 plus fifth through eighth graders. Approximately 580 students are educated at Metuchen High School and the borough is also home to St. Joseph High School, a private Catholic prep school, known for its academics and sports.
Metuchen is a great community to live in if you work in the New York City or New Brunswick areas. The borough sits on State Highway 27. Interstate 287 and 95 are easily accessed from Metuchen. Route one lies south east of this quant borough.NJ Transit Rail service on the Northeast Corridor line runs through the area.
