Highland Park is a Borough in Middlesex County, New Jersey.
Highland Park received its name for its "park like" setting, on the banks of the Raritan River, overlooking New Brunswick. Watson Whittlesey was the main reason many people came to settle in Highland Park. With his promises of extraordinarily built houses on properties fed by the Raritan River, his offers were hard to resist. With just over 14,000 residents over a 1.8 square mile land area, Highland Park is a beautiful community to enjoy a breath of fresh air in the morning and a sky full of stars at night.
The Highland Park Public Schools serve students in Pre-K through twelfth grade. Irving Primary School educates about 430 children in Pre-K, kindergarten and first grade. Bartle Elementary School serves more than 400 students in second through fifth grade and Highland Park Middle School educates the remaining 200 plus students from sixth to eighth grade. Highland Park High School educates close to 450 students grades nine through twelve.
