Frenchtown is a borough in Hunterdon County, New Jersey, United States.
In the late 1700’s many of the residents in Frenchtown spoke French, therefore acquiring the name for this quaint borough. Now inhabited with about 1,500 residents on a 1.3 square mile piece of land in Hunterdon County, New Jersey, Frenchtown has become a stop not to be missed along the New Jersey-Pennsylvania border.
The Frenchtown School District serves students in Pre-K through eighth grade. Edith Ort Thomas Elementary School educates about 130 students. Students grades nine through twelve attend the Delaware Valley Regional High School. Other students from Alexandria, Holland, Milford and Kingwood also attend Delaware Valley Regional High School; enrolled is almost 1,000 students.
Just west of Frenchtown is Route 12; to the north Route 29 and to the south Route 513. These major roadways make it easy and convenient to commute in and out of this borough.
