The land that comprises Flemington was originally the territory of the Lenni Lenape Native Americans, as was all of Hunterdon County. Originally a vast fertile farmland, Flemington now is now a multi-ethnical community where to more than 4,000 live on 1.1 square miles of land. Flemington is a borough in Hunterdon County, New Jersey.
The Flemington-Raritan Regional School District educates students from the Flemington and Raritan areas from grades kindergarten through eighth grade. There are four elementary schools an intermediate school and a seventh and eighth grade school. Barley Sheaf School, Copper Hill School, Ringoes, Francis A. Desmares School and Robert Hunter School serve the more than 2,000 students kindergarten through fourth grade. Reading-Flemington Intermediate School serves students fifth and sixth grade while J.P. Case Middle School educates 1,250 seventh and eight graders.
Flemington Circle is the largest of three traffic circles in Flemington and surrounding areas. U.S. Route 202 and Route 31 approach the circle separately from the north and continue south and the circle is the eastern area of Route 12.
