This provides easy access to Interstate 78, 287 and Route 206. The 15,000 residents in Branchburg are about one hour from both New York City and Philadelphia. Branchburg Township has a history dating back to before the American Revolutionary War, and was incorporated on April 5, 1845, from portions of Bridgewater Township.
The Branchburg Township School District serves public school students kindergarten through grade eight. Whiton Elementary School educates more than 600 students K-2 and both Stony Brook School and Old York school educate students from third to fifth grade, serving more than 300 students each. Close to 700 students in Branchburg attend Branchburg Central Middle School. Midland School, also located in this township, is a non-profit school aiding in the individual social, emotional and academic needs of children ages six to twenty one from all over central and northern New Jersey. Branchburg is also home to Raritan Valley Community College.
Branchburg Township is served by three full-time police departments, an all-volunteer EMS service, and four all-volunteer fire departments.
